Land of Make Believe
Land of Make Believe was founded by Hermann Maier in 1954. It is a combination of rides, water park, wading poll, civil war train, off-road safari, arcade, boardwalk games, historical house, domestic farm animals, and shows.
A teacher designed and built the Land of Make Believe to excite imagination, make learning engaging, and offer an affordable option for family fun. A Dairy Farm was transformed into what it is today.
The mysterious and historical legend of Jenny Jump dates to 1748, when nine year old Jenny and her family were among the very first settlers in Western NJ. Jenny’s historical feat is recognized by New Jersey, which named the mountain range and State Park after her. Patrons can visit her actual house and hear her incredible legend!
During the Civil War, a special steam locomotive was built in Paterson, NJ. The 1863 C.P. Huntington contributed to the building of the Trans-Continental Railroad. This historically significant train had the lead part in the movie, “Iron Horse,” and is an important legacy of the state of New Jersey and the United States! Ride the train and experience the thrill as it chugs along the foothills of the Jenny Jump State Forest!
Five Star General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the European Allied Forces, was flown in DC-3 airplanes during WWII. Come and explore the cockpit of our authentic WWII DC-3 airplane and encourage imaginative play at being its pilot and co-pilot!
Old McDonald’s Farm allows students to learn about domestic farm animals interact with them!
Land of Make Believe 1890’s Mining Company offers students an opportunity to sluice for their very own gems and fossils!
